Destination Unknown

I walk the sand of a desolate beach, the one in my dream.

I travel here more often now, further lost it seems.

It is a struggle to carry thoughts, of my crowded mind.

It is a strain to bear feelings, a heart full, not eased with time...

It is here I may stroll the jetty, build a castle, climb the rocks above.

I can gaze at a perpetual line, the horizon, that of my love.

The ocean’s waves methodical, roll on to shore.

I listen to their music, my soul is the core...

I don’t see myself as a puppet, one of those manipulated by strings.

And I am not a toy to be played with, pushed away like a swing.

I will be reckoned with, wherever I choose to go.

But misplaced, in endless doubt, who is it that knows.

So I will walk the sand of this desolate beach, the one in my dreams.

I will travel here more often now, further lost it seems.

It is a struggle to carry thoughts, of my crowded mind.

It is a strain to bear feelings, a heart full, not eased with time.

Echoes

Echoes of laughter fill the streets,

A childhood token of complete.

Reminder of innocence, what was past

Where did it go, and why so fast.

Friends of play, how they disappear.

Hold on to self, and what seems dear.

Endure all tests, for they are real.

There is no such thing, as life ideal.

Wish upon a star, recite bedtime prayers...

Selfish are those who live as one,

With intoxicating visions of dreams undone.

Echoes of laughter fill the streets,

A life long token of complete.

Reminders of innocence, with room to grow.

Experience your desire, or never never know.
